UBEB Governance

Our Mandate & Governance

FCT UBEB was established under the Universal Basic Education Act, with the mandate to ensure that every child in the Federal Capital Territory has access to quality primary and junior secondary education. UBEB oversees school infrastructure, curriculum implementation, teacher training, and community engagement.

The Board is chaired by the Honourable Commissioner for Education, with members representing key educational stakeholders. The Executive Secretary leads day-to-day operations through departments such as Curriculum, Finance, Monitoring & Evaluation, and ICT.

Parents or guardians can visit the nearest FCT public school with their child’s birth certificate and recent passport photographs. Enrollment is handled at the school level under the supervision of the Area Council Education Department.

Teaching opportunities are announced through the FCT Education Secretariat and UBEB official channels. Applicants must possess the required teaching qualifications and register with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).
